The world has a reason to smile after the successful development of the COVID-19 vaccine. The dose is effective on those who have so far taken the vaccine. However, the vaccine has numerous side effects that you should be aware of as you plan to get the injection. Both Pfizer’s and Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines have got common side effects.

Those who have received the vaccine have either reported serious or non-serious side effects. The side effects start after a day or two after the injection. According to the CDC’s report involving 6,994 people, 6,354 had non-serious side effects while 640 had severe side effects, including 113 deaths.

The following are the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine as reported by the first people who took the shot:

1. Headaches.

Experts have indicated that headaches are part of the systematic side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine shots. People should take regular over-the-counter medications to treat headaches. COVID-19 vaccine-related headaches are transient and subside in one or two days. If you find having persistent headaches, they are not related to the vaccine.

2. Fatigue and Dizziness.

Most people have reported chronic fatigue, brain fog, and dizziness experiences. People should take enough rest if they get dizziness and fatigue after the vaccination.

3. Chills.

Chill is a feeling of cold that forces people to shiver and shake. Chills are more prevalent after the second shot of the vaccine. Fever may accompany the chills.

4. Nausea.

The injection may also make people feel like vomiting within the first few days after injection. Some people have ended up vomiting. If you experience vomiting, you may consult a physician for the correct medication.

5. Anaphylaxis.

Some people are experiencing acute allergic reactions after the shot. The allergic hypersensitivity results from the reaction of antigen in the vaccine with the body’. Though acute allergies are life-threatening in normal circumstances, there has been no reported death.

6. Pain in the arm.

People typically experience pain, swelling, and redness in the upper arm. Sometimes, a rash develops at the injection site. The armpit may also experience swollen lymph nodes.

According to medical experts, the side effects indicate that the vaccine is effective and working as intended. The side effects are a result of the immune system responding to the vaccine. Due to this fact, experts recommend that people should expect the worst and brace for more substantial side effects. Experts have acknowledged that the vaccines are unpleasant but safe for human use. People should consult their doctors if they experience discomfort after the injection. The benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine outweigh the side effects.
